Staging for Sale

Last weekend we were busy helping two different clients stage their homes for sale. Spring is the perfect time to put your house on the market so both of these clients were anxious to ready their homes to be shown. That means lots of de-cluttering and de-personalizing. Trying to have perspective when de-personalizing your own home is hard so it is always helpful to have a fresh eye come in to help. We were able to look at these spaces and think, “what would I want to see (or not see)  if I were considering buying this house?”

We all live in our homes the way that best suits us. But when you put your home on the market, you have to think a little differently. You want to have the spaces in your home as clutter-free as possible. You also want your rooms to have a clearly defined purpose. So, we had to do a little personality makeover this weekend by flip-flopping one client’s sitting room and dining room. We also edited out some furniture, photos, and knick-knacks so that anyone looking at buying these houses can visualize their belongings in the space. My pictures are not the greatest – I definitely need to be better about the before and after photos. I’m just so excited to get started I forget to take before pictures. Then I’m so exhausted at the end of the day I forget to take good after photos from the same angles.

Kitchen before staging. We took down all photos on fridge which makes things look less cluttered. We also moved the white piece into another room and brought in an open storage piece that makes the small kitchen feel larger. We were able to find storage for all of the pieces on top of the fridge and the microwave.

Sitting Room before staging. This was my client's sitting room. For staging purposes we made this a real dining room.

Another staging project... this was the wet bar before staging.

Wet Bar after staging. We just decluttered and packed up tons of glasses and serving pieces. It makes the whole bar area feel much larger.
